Our mission is to produce investigative journalism that informs citizens of Southern California. We are collaborative, not competitive, and seek to distribute our work throughout the region, across multiple media platforms.
In our dedicated pursuits, inewsource satisfies a need for deep, thoughtful, data-driven journalism that illuminates government actions, accounts for public monies, provokes a search for solutions to governmental and societal problems and strengthens democracy in the region.
inewsource is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation incorporated as the Watchdog Institute in California in August, 2009. The Institute has been declared tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service, which means donations to the organization are tax-deductible. Click here to see our IRS notification letter.
