A dual mission of inewsource is teaching and mentoring journalism’s next generation, especially at San Diego State University. We fulfill this mission in a variety of ways but most importantly, we offer paid internships every semester to aspiring investigative journalists and data analysts.
These students often are recruited from the Investigative Journalism course inewsource Executive Director Lorie Hearn teaches or from the SDSU newspaper, The Daily Aztec.
Our track record is impressive. We offered full-time jobs to two interns. Two more are practicing professional journalists. Our latest intern was accepted into three top-tier journalism master’s programs and will attend Northwestern in the fall 2015.
There is no substitute for hands-on experience and working side-by-side with the investigative journalists at inewsource.
