Keeping tabs on election spending

Dear friends,

We’re hot on the money trail — again!

Follow the Money, the popular interactive feature we launched during the mayoral primary, is back with the latest facts and figures on money raised and spent in the San Diego mayor’s race.

The city council just set Feb. 11 as the general election date, which means the daily cash reporting requirements have kicked in.

Once again, inewsource reporter Joe Yerardi will be updating our database of contributors EVERY DAY. We will track the candidates — Kevin Faulconer and David Alvarez — as well as the independent committees that raise and spend money on their behalf.

Catch Joe on the radio this morning when he talks about the money coming in and the rules that govern it. You can read about it here, or watch Joe on Evening Edition, Channel 11, at 5 or 6:30 p.m.

If you value this public service, consider supporting our efforts to bring it to you by becoming a member and donating. It’s tax-deductible.
