An Impossible Choice

inewsource was nominated for an Emmy from The National Academy of Television Arts and Science in the category of Outstanding Hard News Report in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast. Its mini-documentary, “An Impossible Choice,” aired nationally on PBS NewsHourinewsource reporters Joanne Faryon and Brad Racino got a rare look inside one of the largest subacute units in California and revealed the hidden world of thousands of people on life support.

“An Impossible Choice” has won two national and two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for audio news series and video hard news. The series also won a Meyer “Mike” Berger award from the Columbia Journalism School, an Investigative Reporters and Editors first place in small multiplatform and an Association of Health Care Journalists first place for consumer reporting.

Locally, “An Impossible Choice” received multiple recognitions from the San Diego Society of Professional Journalists, including the 2015 Mark of Excellence award.
