inewsource reporters fanned out across the county Tuesday to monitor voting at new super polling locations that were created to help make it safer to vote during the COVID-19 pandemic

I spent the morning, afternoon and evening visiting the Mid-City Gym in City Heights. It’s located in a ZIP code that saw the biggest cuts to its number of polling locations this election.

The site was busy throughout the day, and I saw a long line form a couple of times during my visits. As the polls approached closing time, site manager Elizabeth Tate yelled a countdown outside of the building.

With no voters in line, the doors were locked at 8 p.m.
