Camille von Kaenel is an investigative reporter at inewsource focused on growth and development in San Diego County’s backcountry. Her position is partly funded by Report for America, a national program that supports local journalists, and she's passionate about community service.
Born in Switzerland and raised in the Bay Area, she's always been drawn to mountains and is happiest hiking, skiing and camping. She speaks French and Spanish.
She earned a bachelor’s in international relations from the University of Geneva and a master’s in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Then, she covered the latest in transportation and climate policy for E&E News in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she was a reporter at the daily newspaper the Chico Enterprise-Record, where her work on the aftermath of the Camp Fire earned statewide and national recognition.
