Matthew T. Hall joined inewsource in December 2025 as deputy editor of investigations. He has been a journalist for more than 30 years, as a reporter, social media manager, columnist and editor, mostly in San Diego, where he previously worked at The Daily Transcript and The San Diego Union-Tribune. He has also worked as a journalist in South Carolina and New Hampshire, where he graduated from UNH with an English/journalism bachelor's degree. He is a past president of the San Diego chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, a past national president of the Society of Professional Journalists and the current vice president of the Society of Professional Journalists Foundation. He is married with two daughters, and he has seen the Boston Red Sox win three World Series-clinching games in person and hopes to one day see the San Diego Padres win the Series as well. Fun fact: He once walked 100,353 steps in a single day.
