The city-run tent site in Balboa Park recorded another death on Sunday.
A 67-year-old man was found dead in his tent at O Lot, the larger of the two sites in the park that the city established in mid-2023. He was found unresponsive in his tent by emergency workers just before 8 p.m., according to a report by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of death is not yet determined.
It is the second death at the site in the past month. On Sept. 5 a woman was found dead there. No cause of death has been released yet.
Since San Diego opened the sites in June 2023, 21 deaths have been reported there.
The death on Sunday is the fifth this year in O Lot, which has space for 581 tents. A second site at 26th Street and Pershing Drive has room for 186 tents.
All deaths recorded this year have occurred at the O Lot site.
