The city of Solana Beach may require all food service ware to be reusable or compostable.
Documenter Sam Barney-Gibbs listened in as city council members introduced the proposal at a recent meeting.
The change would take further steps to mitigate plastic waste, banning all recyclable straws, utensils, containers and other plastic food service ware.
The council will hold another vote today, Oct. 14. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 635 S. Highway 101.
New regulations would take effect mid-November, though businesses would have a six-month grace period before the city would begin enforcement.
