We are pleased to share with you the great news that inewsource has been recognized with a first place honor for consumer reporting by the national Association of Health Care Journalists.
The winning report was “An Impossible Choice,” a multimedia project published in September about thousands of people in California on life support in a system that preserves life at all costs.
Awards are just one measure of our effectiveness in delivering high-quality journalism, certainly not as important as the impact our work has on daily lives and on holding government accountable to the taxpayers. But awards are an indication of the quality of the journalism, as judged by notable colleagues across the country.
The Association of Health Care Journalists is a nonprofit organization with an important, singular focus. Its more than 1,400 members are “dedicated to advancing public understanding of health care issues.” The organization strives to improve the quality, accuracy and visibility of health care reporting, writing and editing.”
AHJC describes the contest as being “created by journalists for journalists and is not influenced or funded by commercial or special-interest groups.”
As a supporter, we hope you will share in our pride in this national award.
