inewsource’s Board of Directors welcomed two new members, continuing an expansion of the diversity and expertise of our board. Elisabeth Eisner Forbes and Susana Villegas will start their three-year terms this month.

“Both Forbes and Villegas bring to inewsource vast experience in both varied board service and subject matter expertise,” Board Chair Sandra Timmons said. “We look forward to working with them and know their contributions will further the mission of inewsource.”

Eisner Forbes brings extensive civic and business experience to the board as a lawyer, teacher and long-time community volunteer. She is a seasoned attorney, including broad corporate, finance and real estate experience with a specialty in advising nonprofit corporations.

Eisner Forbes has long served in volunteer leadership roles in the nonprofit community, including three three-year terms on the San Diego Foundation board. She is a member of the Social Equity Collaborative Fund, a fund of Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and a past director of Catalyst. She is also a founder, current board member and officer of the San Diego Parks Foundation.

Susana Villegas

Susana Villegas expands the board with strategic communications expertise. She is president of SVPR Communications, an award-winning public relations firm specializing in strategic English- and Spanish-language communications and media services, crisis management and community stakeholder engagement. 

Villegas received the 2023 San Diego Padres Hispanic Heritage Comunidad Awards and was recognized as 2023 Leader of Influence in Advertising, PR & Marketing by the San Diego Business Journal. She serves on the Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board of UC San Diego and on the board of directors of the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce. 

The inewsource Board of Directors is a group of community leaders who bring experience and expertise to oversight of our independent, nonprofit newsroom. They act as ambassadors for our mission and help ensure our financial health.
