Today, we’re proud to present the San Diego Election Source, our new hub that will help you keep tabs on the general election heading into November.

You may know inewsource for our past election coverage — stories that can’t be found anywhere else. We’ve investigated how outside groups shape races by spending millions of dollars to independently boost — or oppose — candidates, centered the voices of San Diegans most impacted by their elected officials’ decisions, and more.

Expect that investigative and accountability coverage again this election. But this time, we’re expanding our utility journalism and product offerings, too.

The Election Source will include presidential, state and local results relevant to San Diego County. We partnered with the Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ to provide high-quality summaries that will be updated real time on and after Election Day. Curious what they look like? You can see results from the March primary election in the Election Source right now.

This will be the go-to destination for our latest election reporting. Sign up for alerts to make sure you don’t miss our updates.

What will our election reporting look like this year?

inewsource will continue to prioritize accountability and enterprise reporting related to the November ballot. We’ll fact-check candidates; dive into incumbents’ track records as they seek re-election; and follow the money that’s being spent to influence the election, among other angles we’re already working on.

Our focus: You. That means we’re shaping our stories to help San Diegans understand how candidates and ballot measures can impact some of the biggest challenges facing our community.

Here’s our first story

We already kicked off our coverage. First up: A fight is brewing in Chula Vista, where an incumbent board member is trying to unseat his colleague. Education Reporter Andrea Figueroa Briseño has unpacked the race between Francisco Tamayo and Kate Bishop and what’s at stake for the county’s fourth-largest school district.
