Jennifer Bowman is an investigative reporter at inewsource, covering Imperial County and the South Bay. She used to cover education for inewsource. She’s happy to be back in her hometown after stints at daily newspapers in Michigan and North Carolina.

At the Asheville Citizen Times, Jennifer’s award-winning coverage of yearslong corruption helped lead to criminal convictions against five county officials. She also reported on wide-ranging financial fraud at a mental health agency while at the Battle Creek Enquirer.

Jennifer grew up in Chula Vista and went to San Diego State University. She spends much of her free time tending to an embarrassingly large collection of houseplants. Her family includes a toddler and a grumpy pug.
