Mary Plummer is a former editor and investigative reporter for inewsource. Her reporting has ranged from major breaking news, such as covering some of California’s deadliest wildfires and mass shootings, to intensive beat reporting. Her investigations have uncovered failings in the state prison system that led to men dying in their cells without adequate medical care, and questionable fundraising tactics used by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to raise tens of millions of dollars. In all her work, she values community connections, and fostering trust and long-term relationships.

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Chapman University and a master’s degree with honors from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Her career in broadcast began at the London bureau for ABC News. She also worked as the lead political reporter for KPCC – Los Angeles’ largest NPR station – during the 2016 and 2018 elections.
